Flashback Friday - Istanbul, Turkey

WHERE: Istanbul, Turkey  10/10

HOTEL/HOSTEL:
1. BadaBing Hostel 9/10
- Amazing location - once you can find it. (it's sort of on a side street)
- Great atmosphere
- Great service - book tours, or ask for information etc

WHEN: August 2013

WITH:  My travel buddy Alyce

WHY: It was on both of our bucket lists!

MY TOP 3:
1. Grand Bazaar & Spice Market
2. Blue Mosque & Hagia Sophia
3. Topkapi Palace

SKIP: The Bosphorus cruise. Taking the ferry is just as easy and much cheaper plus you can come as go as you please. If you do the cruise you are stuck on the "Asian side" for 3 hours or so. We did the ferry and decided to leave after about an hour. The "Europe side" has a lot more to offer - but it is really cool to say you have been to 2 continents and stayed in the same city!!!

TRY: Apple Tea and/or Turkish Coffee - and Doner Kebab

WHY GO: The Turkish people are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet, the mosques are breathtakingly beautiful, the apple tea is deliciously addictive, and you will find some of the nicest hand-made items in the world.

SOUVENIR(S): I got a Turkish lamp, apple tea and a large bowl

  2. Great photos, we was in Istanbul just a few weeks ago and I agree, it’s a 10/10 destination. Already planning to go back again.. One reason is that we missed the inside of Hagia Sophia due to bad planning (closed on Mondays) and I bought a new wide lens to my camera only for that reason.. Another on is that we missed the Bulgarian Iron church.. once again, great photos and great post..

    1. Thank you!! I can relate about wanting to go back - I missed the Galata Tower as we just simply ran out of time and I have heard that the Dolmabahçe Palace is just as nice (if not nicer) than Topkapi Palace.
