My Favourite Sunrise and Sunset Destinations

One of the best things about traveling is getting to watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets that other countries have to offer. I have compiled a list of some of my favourite destinations to watch the sun work its magic!
I studied/lived in Australia for one year in an area of Queensland called the Sunshine Coast - but to be more specific I lived in the city of Maroochydore. One of the best things about living in Maroochydore was living opposite of a beach. I got to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets everyday, and I have to say they have some of the best!

Australia wins for having the most colourful sunrise/sunsets!

Watching the sunset from the Galata Bridge in Istanbul is just breathtaking. But Turkey also had another of my favourite sun destinations - this time it was watching the sunrise. In Cappadocia I watched the sunrise from up in a hot air balloon! Making it one of my favourite sunrise/sunset destinations of all time!

Turkey wins for the having the most vibrant sunrise/sunsets plus they get bonus points for having the option to watch it from up in the sky!

Oia is famous for its beautiful sunsets and it does not disappoint. Go early to stake your claim on a good stop and just watch out for the donkeys coming up the stairs. As a second option there are also some boat companies that go out for the sunset - which would also be very beautiful and a little less crowded.

Greece wins for having the triple effect! Sunset, Backdrop and Water!! What else could you ask for?

New York City:

Last but not least one of my other favourite destinations to watch the sunset was from the top of the Empire State Building! Once again this is a busy destination for sunset - so you want to stake your claim early as otherwise you will get stuck on the side of the building where you wont see the sun go down.

NYC wins for best metropolitan sunset!
