Wanderlust Tag

I can never say no to a travel related TAG. I saw that Liesl from Pretty.Random.Things did this Tag (a while ago) so I saved it for a rainy snowy day. You can find her answers to the tag here

1. Your most treasured passport stamp?

It's so hard to choose, but I think my first stamp ever - which was to Mexico. Just because it was a special trip being my first, but also it was a mother daughter trip and I can never have too many memories of spending time with my mom.

2. Can you recite your passport number from memory if asked?

I definitely knew it but would always check just to be sure when filling anything out. Recently I had to get a new passport and now I have a new number and I definitely don't know that one.

3. Preferred method of travel; planes, trains or automobiles?

Probably trains - just because I feel you have the most freedom, as you can walk around and such - but I don't mind road trips in cars either. As for planes... I have a love/hate relationship as I only love them for the first hour, during that time I love them; everything's fun, you play with the entertainment system, you pull out your books or iPad or whatnot but after that hour is up my legs feel cramped, I can't sleep, I get hangry, plus the air sucks the life out of my skin... you know fun stuff like that.

4. Top 3 travel items?

1. Camera

2. IPad or IPhone: music, books, travel guides, maps etc

3. Sunglasses

5. Hostel or hotel?

I would say Hotel for anywhere in the world except Europe - there I would pick Hostels. Hostels in Europe are so nice and clean and they always have the BEST locations. I think its funny that so many people boycott hostels - when most hostels have private rooms with private bathrooms available and they are CHEAP! In other parts of the world where hostels may not be quite up to par with the European hostels I would book a hotel.

Also it always depends on who I am traveling with - when I travel with friends my age we are budget conscious so we look into hostels - when I am traveling with family we always book hotels.

6. Are you a repeat visitor or do you explore new places?

I have done a ton of repeat visiting which I usually regret because that money could have been spent on somewhere new. Every time that I agree or book a repeat country or city I always say this is my last time... from now on no repeats but clearly it happens again and again. I currently have a trip booked to NYC, Florida and then a cruise to Mexico and I have been to all 3 of those destinations previously. Sigh... A tiger can never change it's stripes. Hello my name is Lindsey and I am a Repeat Visitor.

7. Do you read up on your destination (culture, history, safety) or do you wing it?

Both. I always read up on the destination and plan fairly loose itineraries and such but as soon as I get to the destination its usually pure winging it. Everything usually goes out the window in terms of plans and we just go with the flow. I enjoy the planning and reading process so I continue to do it anyways.

8. Favorite travel website?

Well I love reading blogs - but as for travel website probably Trip Advisor or Viator

9. Where would you recommend a friend to visit?

That's sooo hard to choose but definitely... Turkey, London (UK), and Germany

10. You're leaving tomorrow, money is no option, where are you going?

Well if I am leaving and money is no option I would be going to numerous places... but I guess

a few of my currently can't afford destinations would become top of the list:

- Bora Bora or Maldives

- Galapogos Islands

- Antarctica or Alaska Cruise
